Boots Info

Boot Type

If you're a motorcycle rider who wants to keep your feet dry in wet conditions, but cool and comfortable in hot conditions, Sidi Tour Gore-Tex Boots are one of your best options. These boots have a breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex membrane that keeps your feet totally dry both in the heat and the rain, but at the same time allows your feet to breath so that they don't sweat when it's really hot.

If you aren't already familiar with Sidi, this is a good opportunity to rectify that. Sidi is renowned for manufacturing quality products — and not just for motorcycle riders, too. Whether you're involved with road racing, road riding, or even cycling, Sidi provides serious protection and high quality.

Testing the Sidi Tour Gore-Tex Boots

I tested for these boots when I rode up to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, a road trip that took me from one weather extreme to another and then back again. As I rode through the area's microclimates, I quickly went from a hot, sunny 95 degrees to a chilly, rainy 65 degrees. This allowed me to really test the ability of these boots to both keep my feet dry and to keep them overheating.

I have to mention that I needed to try two sizes in order to get the right pair — my normal size was too tight so I had to go up half a size, both for overall comfort and to have the ability to put winter socks on. Once I had the size I needed, their performance was absolutely fantastic. No matter how heavy the downpours got, my feet stayed completely dry. Then, when I was riding in the blistering heat, the breathable Gore-Tex kept my feet from getting wet with sweat. This ensured that my feet remained comfortable throughout the trip.

Sidi Tour Boot Features

The padded shin plate and Velcro straps wrap and close the boot around your calf with ease and comfort. This plate added protection and some peace of mind in case of a spill, which was a nice touch. A waterproof panel on the inside of the zip provides extra protection against water behind the zip and Velcro fastening.

There is internal ankle, toe, and heel protection and the back has stitched-in circles that create a reflective surface for the lights of traffic behind you. The top grain leather construction, removable arch support, and rigid nylon inner-sole make for a very impressive features set for these boots.

Comfort & Durability

The Sidi Tour Gore-Tex boots are designed for someone that rides loads of miles. You can put them on first black porn thing in the morning and stay in them all day. One reason for this is that they have incredibly light soles — so light that you can hardly feel them, in fact.

I was especially happy when I discovered that my boots never needed breaking in. They were soft and pliable right from the beginning and within a few miles the toe shift lever support was easily soft enough that I never thought twice about changing gears.

These boots have double stitching in all of the high stress areas, which is a major benefit that makes them feel particularly well-made and solid. It's true that they are priced at the upper price bracket ($350) for all-around riding boots, but they are Sidi and thus worth the extra investment when compared to other boots of this caliber. You should be able to ride in these Sidi boots for many years without them wearing out or going out of style.
