With Daytona Bike Week fast approaching, it's time to fire up the riding season by getting ready to head down to Florida for one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world. This historic event will give bike enthusiasts from across the country, a chance to steep themselves in bike culture. And some of the biggest names in the industry will be on hand to help participants navigate a range of products, accessories and events.
This year, Corporate Harley-Davidson is moving from the beachside Ocean Center complex to the park across the street from the original Daytona Harley dealership on Beach Street. This new venue allows closer contact with Harley enthusiasts and of course offers the opportunity to purchase bikes while at the event. There will be lots of activities there too - as is customary with H-D corp. Some of the events include expos, pin pick up and many other rider favorites.
Cycle World is returning to Bike Week after a five-year absence. The Cycle World International Show will feature everything from tricked-out customs and stunt shows to the latest street bikes.
Outside of Daytona International Speedway, motorcycle enthusiasts will also be able to test-ride the latest and greatest motorcycles with free manufacturer demo rides and displays. Some of those expected to attend are Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Victory, Triumph and Boss Hoss. Riders must hold a valid motorcycle driver license and DOT approved helmet in order to participate in the demo rides.
To help get that adrenaline going, Bike Week participants can check out some high-speed ASRA/CCS road-racing action at the Daytona International Speedway February 27 and 28.

Riders for Health began in the minds of Barry and Andrea Coleman and motorcycle Grand Prix rider Randy Mamola in the 1980s, and was finally registered as its own Non-Governmental Organization charity in 1996. During the time before registration, the loose group of people worked within the Grand Prix paddock to gather funds for various African charities. However, it soon became clear that to accomplish their mission, they would have to organize it themselves. So, when they made it official in 1996, the mission became to make sure that every health worker in Africa has some access to reliable transport. This is very important for reaching the most isolated people for health care – and the motorcycle is the best vehicle for the job.

Motocross sensation Ashley Fiolek to headline opening ceremonies at fifth AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley Davidson and Buell
AMA Press Release
The American Motorcyclist Association is pleased to announce that motocross racing phenom Ashley Fiolek will speak at the Aug. 19 Opening Ceremony of the fifth AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley Davidson and Buell, in Keystone, Colo.
The fact that Fiolek is deaf has never hampered her performance on the motocross track. She quickly demonstrated that she is a serious competitor in the professional ranks when she rode her way to the title in the 2008 AMA/WMA Women's Professional Motocross Championship. This year has proved to be no different. After the first four races of the 2009 series, Fiolek – competing as the first-ever woman member of the Honda Red Bull factory racing team – currently holds first place in the point standings. But she is not content to stop there. Fiolek intends to compete on the men's motocross circuit in the not-too-distant future.

Albany New York really is a gateway to some of the most beautiful roads in the Northeastern United States. And I was lucky enough to be invited to come along and sample them at this year’s Americade Motorcycle Rally, situated on beautiful Lake George in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains.
The thing that stunned me most was the amount of motorcycles around. I have heard in the past rumors of as many as 50,000 people visiting the event, although I don’t think it was that many this year, but it certainly was a lot.
On March 28, 2009, the Smith family and friends lost a beloved member Edward Smith. Ed is survived by wife Rochelle and son Grayson. His passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving his family stricken with hardship. In an effort to relieve some of this burden, family and friends are joining together to put together the Smooth Vibe Family Picnic and Charity Bike ride to be held on June 7, 2009 in honor of Ed.
This year was the first year that I was actually able to make it to Daytona Bike week, and what a surprise was in store.
I have to say, I have never seen such a fantastic array of machines in one single place in my life. .. Everything from Choppers to trikes, Sportsbikes to Harleys, Café Racer machines and home build frames, tanks, forks, tail units, etc you name it, we saw it at Daytona Bike Week.
Also in abundance were very interesting people to go along with these machines. I did have to draw the line when I saw a 70+ year young lady with only dollar bills covering her anatomy while riding pillion, very interesting people watching that evening while standing on the side of the road with a cold beer.
