WORX CRESCENT SUZUKI TOPS CARTEGENA BSB TEST
Worx Crescent Suzuki’s Yukio Kagayama stole the honour of recording the fastest lap-time from the Cartegena 2010 BSB test today in Spain after he slashed nearly a second off the previous best times and lapping at a scintillating 1:33.51. With team-mate Tommy Hill only 200ths-of-a-second behind, the pair easily bettered the official lap record and finished first and second at the top of the BSB test times. Jack Valentine - Team Manager: "We're very, very pleased with today's outcome. We had only planned for three days' testing here but considering the high workload and the teething issues we've experienced, we felt the extra day would help prepare the team better for the next test at Guadix on Tuesday. "Yukio's had his work cut out these last few days, but today he was able to put in 42 laps - nearly equal to what he did over the entire three previous days. This brought him up to Tommy's pace and it was a real pleasure to see the pair of them all-but sharing the best lap time. But, just as importantly, those lap times weren't one-offs for either of them as they were able to lap consistently at this very fast pace. "So we're really happy with the progress made: We've come here with a team that's much bigger than we had last year and we've come with new kit in the form of the Öhlins suspension and Motec engine management. The bikes, the riders; and the team are really starting to gel and we've achieved everything we set out to do." Unofficial overall top 10 test times: 1 Yukio Kagayama (Worx Crescent Suzuki) 1m:33.51s 2 Tommy Hill (Worx Crescent Suzuki) 1m:33.53s 3 Michael Laverty (Relentless Suzuki) 1m:34.3s 4 Dan Linfoot (Motorpoint Yamaha) 1m:34.4s 5 James Ellison (Swan Honda) 1m:34.5s 6 Stuart Easton (Swan Honda) 1m:34.8s 7 Neil Hodgson (Motorpoint Yamaha) 1m:34.9s 8 Alastair Seeley (Relentless Suzuki) 1m:34.9s 10 9 Josh Brookes (HM Plant Honda) 1m:35.0s Ryuichi Kiyonari (HM Plant Honda) 1m:35.2s . Race 2 of the AMA Pro Road Racing American Superbike Race
The start was an interesting battle into turn one that pushed the pole sitter Aaron Yates on his Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 into third with Tommy Haden of Rockstar Makita Suzuki taking the lead .
By lap 4 Tommy Hayden had started to create a gap between second place Jake Zemke on the National Guard Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 and third place Aaron Yates on the Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000. In fourth was Larry Pegram on the Foremost Insurance Pegram Racing Ducati 1098R. With Michael Jordan looking down on his two teams from his executive box, a double win would be really quite an achievement.

Wanting to entice Harley-Davidson enthusiasts, AMA Pro Racing has partnered with Vance & Hines, launching the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series, a five-race championship.
The series, which features modified Harley-Davidson XR1200s, will compete at the following AMA Pro Racing events: Road America, Mid-Ohio, Virginia International Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Barber Motorsports Park.
“We have racing in our DNA, Harley-Davidson has racing in their DNA and we are truly thrilled to bring Vance & Hines and Harley-Davidson back into AMA Pro Racing,” said Terry Vance, part-owner of Vance & Hines and prolific motorcycle drag racer. “The XR1200 has proven to be an exciting platform for spec racing in Europe and this class will be a perfect cost-effective platform to showcase new talent on a national stage. Many of the finest motorcycle racers all over the world got their start in the AMA Supertwins class of the 1990s.”
Vance & Hines will serve as official race-kit supplier for the class, consisting of a Vance & Hines XR1200 exhaust system, a Fuelpak fuel management system, race bodywork including number plate, single seat tail section and belly pan, 17-inch front wheel with matching front fender, steering damper, oil cooler relocator and race decal package. The cost for the complete kit: $3500.
According to a press release, as in all AMA Pro Road Racing series, Dunlop will provide the spec tire for the class and Sunoco will fuel the racers with their Sunoco 260 GTX fuel. In addition to the Vance & Hines supplied kit parts, teams will be allowed to upgrade their suspension, hand and foot controls, brake components and instrumentation.
“Adding another element to our events with a series of this caliber will be a great benefit to our sport,” said David Atlas, AMA Pro Racing chief operating officer. “The specification of the XR1200 package will put the premium on the rider’s ability and will provide a great new class of racing that has ties to the past.”
Vance & Hines is also pleased to announce that the XR1200 Series will feature a $5,000 purse payout at each of the five rounds, $2,500 going to the race winner, $1,000 to the runner-up and $750 for third. Fourth and fifth place finishers will receive $500 and $250 respectively. |

The American Motorcyclist Association will induct a new class of motorcycle innovators, racers, and entrepreneurs to their Hall of Fame on December 4 and 5 at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The AMA Hall of Fame, which inducted its first class in 1998, expects a large turn out of previous Hall of Fame members to attend the ceremony. They will be congratulating the AMA’s 2009 amateur racing champions on Friday night, and welcoming a new class of Hall of Fame members on Saturday.
"This is an opportunity for these motorcycling heroes to catch up with each other, recognize the new class of inductees, and take in the extravaganza that has become the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” says Jack Penton, chairman of the board of the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation.
"The list of confirmed AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers who will attend the Induction Ceremony as our guests is impressive," says Penton, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame himself in 1999.
The AMA Hall of Fame will be sponsored by Fox Racing Shox, whose founder Bob Fox and brother Geoff Fox will be inducted this year into the Hall of Fame. Husqvarna, along with KTM will also sponsor the event.
Bob and Geoff Fox will be joined by Randy Hawkins, Robert Bates, Gilles vailancourt, Mona Ehnes, David Hough, Gary mathers, and Chuck Palmgren. |
